The Pew Warmers

The Pew Warmers

Testimonials

Gene Jackson's "The Pew Warmers" strikes at the heart of a principle weakness of today's local church: the failures of professed believers to live under the Lordship of Christ. There are two basic reasons for this... either the professed believer is apathetic about his faith or he is lost. In both cases the church suffers.
Rev. Jackson deals with these issues and offers the solution from Scripture. Revival will come to a church when lost church members respond to the conviction of the Holy Spirit and receive Christ as Savior and Lord.

"The Pew Warmers" was finished about 1:00 A.M. this morning. It really made me take an inventory of my own Christian experience. I have become stronger as a born again believer. Your book helped me to take a good look at myself. It shook me up and made me take a deep look at my spiritual life.

A very thought provoking book. I enjoyed this book from the first page to the last. "The Pew Warmers" provided a mirror for all who profess to be Christians. Thank you, Gene, for letting the Holy Spirit guide you in writing this book.

Despite the fact that this book is well written, it is not an easy book to read. The challenge is not to understand what Gene Jackson is saying, he is disarmingly clear and to the point, Rather the challenge is to the mind, to our beliefs and habits surrounding going to church. We are reminded repeatedly that "the road to heaven is narrow;" there is not enough room on "the road" to seek salvation on Sunday and material things the rest of the week. This book is captivating in its style, compelling with its references to the Scriptures and its grasp of the secular churchgoing practices of today. For that reason, you cannot avoid being left with a deeply personal and at times uncomfortable if not troubling feeling about whether you are satisfied with church membership or truly seeking salvation.
This book can serve a valuable and noble purpose in your life, regardless of religious persuasion. It eloquently and forcefully argues for something many of us have-or want to-forget: churches do not make Christians! A reminder that all of us should take to heart. A book well worth reading.

"I don't read very many books, but thoughtfully read your book...it was well worth the time. It seems evident that most of today's church members are not living lives that are consistent with biblical truths. The things that you have written surely need to be read by most of us. The dress in many churches breaks my heart. There appears to be a general lack of reverence in the Church. I have no problems with what you have said. I thank you for your plain straight-forward remarks that need to be heard."
